Der überraschende Heimgang von Wolfgang Pucher lässt mich in tiefer Betroffenheit, aber auch ebenso tiefer Dankbarkeit innehalten. In meiner Zeit als Weihbischof von Graz bin ich oft mit ihm zusammengetroffen und durfte so Zeuge seiner Werke sein. Für ihn gab es keine Kompromisse - er war unerschütterlicher Anwalt der Armen und wusste, seine Mitmenschen für deren Not zu sensibilisieren und für das Handeln zu motivieren. Er hat das Evangelium nicht nur im Wort, sondern besonders auch in der Tat gepredigt - er verwandelte einst Gesagtes in heute Getanes. Sein unermüdliches und unbeirrbares Wirken hat über Jahrzehnte unzähligen Menschen Hoffnung gegeben, die bisweilen alles verloren glaubten.
Im Herbst feiert das VinziDorf das dreißigjährige Bestehen, auch aus Salzburg ist der Vinzibus nicht mehr wegzudenken - die zahlreichen von Wolfgang Pucher gegründeten und aufgebauten Einrichtungen bleiben sein Vermächtnis, nun da er nach sechzig Jahren im priesterlichen Dienst zum Herrn vorausgegangen ist. Der Himmel möge ihm lohnen und reich vergelten, was er auf Erden seinen Nächsten an Gutem getan hat. Beten wir für diesen aufopferungsvollen Diener Gottes! Er möge in Frieden ruhen.
