<h2>Über den neuen Di
rektor</h2>
<p>Der 46-jährige Ian Gregory Barnes stammt aus der Grafschaft
Cambridge in Südost-England. Seit September 2021 ist er an der International
School Kufstein Tirol als Lehrer für Englisch und Geografie und an der Fach
hochschule Kufstein als Lektor tätig.</p>
<p>„Katholische Werte und die Pri
nzipien des ,International Baccalaureate‘ von Respekt, Fürsorge, Aufgeschlos
senheit und Wissbegier werden im Mittelpunkt der Schule stehen und den Schül
ern eine solide Grundlage geben, wenn sie zu jungen Erwachsenen heranwachsen
“, sagt Ian Barnes.</p>
<p>Barnes studierte an der Universität Edinburgh (M
aster of Research), an der Universität London (Master of Teaching) und absol
vierte die Lehrerausbildung an der Universität Cambridge. Einige Jahre arbei
tete er als Lehrer und Middle Manager in England und lebt seit 2007 in Tirol
. Seit 15 Jahren ist er Besitzer und Geschäftsführer der Sprachschule „Engli
sch Institut“ in Brixlegg in Tirol.</p>
<p>Barnes, der in Reith im Alpbacht
al wohnt, sagt: „Ich lebe seit 16 Jahren in Tirol, nachdem ich meine Frau ke
nnengelernt und geheiratet hatte, die aus Tirol stammt. In jüngerer Zeit unt
errichte ich auch an der Fachhochschule Kufstein und der ISK, wo ich nun das

Seit 15 Jahren ist er Besitzer und Geschäftsführer der Sprachschule „Englisch Institut“ in Brixlegg in Tirol.
Barnes, der in Reith im Alpbachtal wohnt, sagt: „Ich lebe seit 16 Jahren in Tirol, nachdem ich meine Frau kennengelernt und geheiratet hatte, die aus Tirol stammt. In jüngerer Zeit unterrichte ich auch an der Fachhochschule Kufstein und der ISK, wo ich nun das Gefühl habe, meine Heimat gefunden zu haben.“
Zur International School Kufstein Tirol
Die International School Kufstein Tirol(ISK) ist ein privates Oberstufenrealgymnasium mit Öffentlichkeitsrecht für junge Menschen ab 10 (5.–12. Schulstufe) und eine von der International Baccalaureate (IB) Organizationautorisierte IB World School, von denen es über 5.000 in rund 160 Ländern der Welt gibt. Sie bietet zusätzlich zur österreichischen Matura den international anerkannten Schulabschluss International Baccalaureate an, welcher den Absolventinnen und Absolventen den Zugang zu führenden Hochschulen und Universitäten ermöglicht. Alle Fächer werden in englischer Sprache unterrichtet. Ab dem Schuljahr 2021/22 wurde das Oberstufenrealgymnasium um eine Unterstufe erweitert (5.–8. Schulstufe). Partner der konfessionellen Schule ist die Erzdiözese Salzburg. Die Schule ist eingebunden in den Campus der Fachhochschule Kufstein.
