es offenen Dialogs von Kirchen und Gesellschaft“ ausgelobt. Eingereich
t werden können Projekte, die das Ziel verfolgen, „eine Kultur de
r Offenheit, der Verständigung, der Begegnung, des gegenseitigen Respek
ts und gelingender Zukunftsgestaltung zu fördern“, heißt es
in der Ausschreibung des mit 3.000 Euro dotierten Preises. Das Thema der he
urigen Ausschreibung, die noch bis 1. November läuft, lautet: „In
novative, konkrete und umgesetzte Beiträge der gelungenen Kooperation f
ür ein solidarisches Europa“.
Die Auszeichnung geht auf de
n langjährigen Rektor von St. Virgil, Hans-Walter Vavrovsky, zurüc
k. „Eine Kirche muss offen sein, auch für Andersdenkende, und ein
e Kirche, die offen ist, muss auch damit rechnen, dass sie Schwierigkeiten b
ekommt“, erklärte Namensgeber Vavrovsky zur Auszeichnung. „
Aber es gibt keine Alternative zum Dialog, der konstruktive Antworten auf di
e Herausforderungen der Zukunft im Blick hat.“
2016 wurde der Preis e
rstmals vergeben. Damals wurde das Landeskrankenhaus Salzburg für das P
rojekt „Integration und Transkulturalität am Landeskrankenhaus Sa
lzburg“ ausgezeichnet. Einreichungen sind prinzipiell von Gruppen, Ini
tiativen sowie von öffentlichen oder privaten Einrichtungen aus Ös
terreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz, Südtirol und Liechtenstein mög
lich.

Eingereicht werden können Projekte, die das Ziel verfolgen, „eine Kultur der Offenheit, der Verständigung, der Begegnung, des gegenseitigen Respekts und gelingender Zukunftsgestaltung zu fördern“, heißt es in der Ausschreibung des mit 3.000 Euro dotierten Preises. Der in Seekirchen geborene Spross einer Anwaltsfamilie war von 1983 bis 2016 Rektor des renommierten Salzburger Bildungszentrums St. Virgil. Er ist seit 1988 Domkapitular und seit 1992 Europabeauftragter der Erzdiözese Salzburg. Von 2010 bis 2015 war er Domdechant und damit Vorsitzender des Domkapitels, dem er weiterhin angehört. Außerdem ist er in der Stiftung „Pro Oriente“, im Salzburger Pressverein sowie im Katholischen Hochschulwerk aktiv. Vavrovsky wurde 1983 zum Ehrenbürger von Rattenberg am Inn ernannt; 1996 erhielt er das Goldene Ehrenzeichen des Landes Salzburg.
