Zum Hintergrund
Auslöser für die Regierungskrise sind Ermittlungen der Wirtschafts- und Korruptionsstaatsanwaltschaft (WKStA) gegen Sebastian Kurz und sein Umfeld. Nach Hausdurchsuchungen am Mittwoch u.a. im Bundeskanzleramt und in der ÖVP-Bundesparteizentrale rückte Vizekanzler und Grünen-Chef Werner Kogler immer mehr von seinem Koalitionspartner ab. Am Samstagabend erklärte schließlich Kurz, dass er sein Amt als Kanzler abgeben, weiter ÖVP-Bundesparteiobmann bleiben und das Amt als Klubobmann im Nationalrat übernehmen werde. In der Folge ernannte der Bundespräsident am Montag den bisherigen Außenminister zum neuen Bundeskanzler. Als neuer Außenminister wurde der bisherige Diplomat Michael Linhart angelobt.
