eter hohe Figur, die einen Stacheldrahtzaun anhebt. Sie stellt den alttestam
entarischen Gottesknecht dar.
Der Gottesknecht stehe für Gerechtigkeit
statt Ausbeutung. Er sei einer, der belächelt, ausgespottet, gefoltert
wird und sich dennoch für andere einsetzt. „Die Geschichte
Israels im Alten Orient ist bestimmt durch Fremdbesetzung. Bis auf wenige Ja
hrzehnte um die Jahrtausendwende vor Christus ist das Volk immer verschieden
en Großmächten tributpflichtig. Das bedeutet eine dauernde Erfahr
ung von Unrecht und Ausbeutung“, erklärt der Pfarrer von St. Elis
abeth, Heinrich Wagner. „Darum ist das Wort, um das sich das ganze Alt
e Testament dreht: Gerechtigkeit.“
Angesicht des Leids der Fl&u
uml;chtlingsströme von heute sei es wichtig, das biblische „Model
l“ des Gottesknechts dem derzeit versuchten Weg der Abschottung und Au
sgrenzung gegenüberzustellen und öffentlich in den Diskurs zu brin
gen. „Es braucht auch heute Menschen, die Gewalt nicht mit Gegengewalt
beantworten und so ein Hoffnungszeichen setzen“, sagte Wagner.
Zucke
rstätter arbeitete seit Jänner 2017 an der Skulptur, die in Ton mo
delliert und anschließend in Beton gegossen wurde. Direktor Eduard Bau
mann betonte: „Es reicht nicht, die Bibel rein kognitiv verstehen zu w
ollen. Die Bibelwelt macht sie mit allen Sinnen erfahrbar.“ Die Skulpt
ur wird nicht nur in St. Elisabeth stehen, sondern auch an anderen Plät
zen in der Stadt Salzburg zu sehen sein.
