„Allen Menschen mit Behinderungen ist Selbstbestimmung, Autonomie u
nd die uneingeschränkte Teilhabe an der Gesellschaft ein großes A
nliegen“, sagt Schubert. In Artikel 19 der UN-Konvention für die
Rechte von Menschen mit Behinderungen ist dieses Recht verbindlich festgesch
rieben und wurde von Österreich 2008 ratifiziert. „Mit dem Erwach
senenschutzgesetz wird ein Schritt in diese Selbstbestimmung ermöglicht
“, so Schubert. Bei einem Nicht-Inkrafttreten des Gesetztes ist fü
;r die Referentin der Erzdiözese Salzburg klar: „Die Rechte von M
enschen mit Behinderungen werden wieder einmal hintan gestellt.“
Die
Bundesregierung hatte angekündigt, die Umsetzung des Erwachsenenschutzg
esetzes aus Kostengründen um zwei Jahre zu verschieben. Für Mensch
en mit Behinderungen würde das Erwachsenenschutzgesetz mehr Autonomie u
nd Selbstbestimmung bedeuten. Das Gesetz wurde im Vorjahr von allen Parteien
im Parlament einstimmig beschlossen; es sollte mit 1. Juli 2018 das 30 Jahr
e alte Sachwalterrecht ablösen.
