bendort war vor kurzem der Präsident des Europäischen Forum Alpbac
h und der ehemalige EU-Kommissar, auf Einladung des Katholischen Akademiker/
innenverbandes und der Universität Salzburg zu Gast.
Während zeit
gleich in Brüssel Spitzenpositionen ausverhandelt wurden, ging es an di
esem Abend in Salzburg um die großen Zusammenhänge der Europapoli
tik. Was soll Programm in den nächsten fünf Jahren sein? Welche Pr
obleme muss die EU imstande sein zu lösen, um glaubwürdig zu bleib
en?
<h3><strong>Frage nach Werten</strong></h3>
Die größten Her
ausforderungen sieht Fischler in der Klimafrage, in der Digitalisierung, bei
der Überalterung Europas und der Generationengerechtigkeit. Die
Kluft zwischen arm und reich dürfe nicht größer werden, es b
rauche ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis großer und kleinerer Mitglieds
staaten sowie die Förderung benachteiligter Regionen. Europa brauche au
ßerdem ein neues Wirtschaftskonzept und ein neues Sozialmodell. Zum Pf
lichtprogramm gehöre auch eine ethische Diskussion: „Ist die EU n
och ein Friedensprojekt? Hat sie gemeinsame Werte?“ so Fischler.
Auch
die „Weltpolitikfähigkeit Europas“ (Jean Claude Juncker) g
ewinne an Bedeutung. „Wir müssen in Afrika investieren und alte V
orstellungen von Entwicklungspolitik aufgeben“, ist Fischler &uu
ml;berzeugt. Der Meinung vieler EU-Skeptiker, in Brüssel werde nur gest
ritten, hielt Fischler entgegen: „Konflikte sind etwas Gutes. Nur:&nbs

Fischlers Appell an die Veranstalter: Der Hoffnungskontinent Afrika brauche die Weitergabe des Know how von Universitäten, der KAV möge auch in Zukunft zur Auseinandersetzung mit der EU, mit Werten und ethischen Fragen, einladen.
Bei einem Umtrunk im Garten der Edmundsburg, dort wo man einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Salzburger Altstadt genießen kann, wurden so manche Gespräche rund um die EU weitergeführt und auf ein erfolgreiches KAV-Jahr angestoßen.
