viel Prominenz im Salzburger Dom einen Festgottesdienst gefeiert.
Der geb&
uuml;rtige Steirer und Salesianer Don Boscos, Alois Kothgasser, war von 1997
bis 2002 Bischof von Innsbruck und wurde vom Salzburger Domkapitel im Novem
ber 2002 zum Erzbischof von Salzburg gewählt. Von der Amtsübernahm
e im Jänner 2003 bis zum November 2013 war Alois Kothgasser der 90. Bis
chof von Salzburg, 89. Nachfolger des Heiligen Rupert und 78. Erzbischof. De
r ebenfalls aus der Steiermark stammende Franziskaner Franz Lackner folgte i
hm am 12. Jänner 2014 im Amt des Erzbischofs nach.
Kothgassers Amtszei
t war geprägt von großer Verbundenheit mit Gott und den Gläu
bigen der Erzdiözese Salzburg. Der Erzbischof nahm sich viel Zeit, um S
orgen und Nöte, Freude und Leid der Menschen zu teilen. In den Begegnun
gswochen „Offener Himmel“ traf er jedes Jahr in einer anderen Re
gion mit tausenden Menschen zusammen, um sie spüren zu lassen, dass f&u
uml;r jeden der Himmel offen steht. Auch die „Woche für das Leben
“ wurde in seiner Amtszeit eingeführt. Dabei machen mehr als 100
Pfarren die Bedeutung des Lebensschutzes von der Empfängnis bis zum Tod
bewusst. Weiters hat der Erzbischof emeritus die Zusammenarbeit mit der Wis
senschaft gepflegt und den Dialog mit anderen Religionen gefördert. Zah
lreiche Auszeichnungen bestätigen die hohe Wertschätzung für
den Kirchenmann.
Seit seiner Emeritierung lebt Alois Kothgasser bei den Don
-Bosco-Schwestern in Baumkirchen in Tirol. Er ist sowohl in der Erzdiöz
