Wieweit dies weiter möglich ist, hängt nicht zuletzt vom Kirchenbeitrag ab. Er ist das Rückgrat der finanziellen Stabilität der Erzdiözese. Denn die Bezahlung der Priester und ihrer Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, die pastoralen und sozialen Aufgaben, die Verantwortung für viele Bildungs- und pädagogische Einrichtungen und die Erhaltung von rund 700 zumeist denkmalgeschützten Kirchen und Profangebäuden sind die größten Posten im kirchlichen Budget. Die Personalkosten betrugen im vergangenen Jahr rund 35 Millionen Euro, gut 59 Prozent der Einnahmen.
Mehr als hundert Baumaßnahmen
Der Bauaufwand schlug 2019 mit rund 6 Millionen Euro zu Buche. Insgesamt wurden mehr als 100 kirchliche Gebäude mit Zuschüssen bedacht. Die Sanierungen zahlreicher Kirchen, unter anderem in Adnet, Bischofshofen, Bürmoos, Elixhausen, Filzmoos, Flachau, Lamprechtshausen, Maishofen, Maria Alm, Russbach, Saalfelden, St. Michael, Taxenbach und Werfen wurden mit jeweils mehr als 100.000 Euro unterstützt.
Weiters waren Baumaßnahmen an vielen Pfarrhöfen erforderlich. Projekte in Anthering, Bürmoos, Dienten, Eugendorf, Koppl, Mittersill, Neukirchen, Pfarrwerfen, Saalbach, St. Georgen/Pg., St. Gilgen, Straßwalchen, Thalgau, Unken, Werfen und Zederhaus wurden mit namhaften Beträgen aus dem Diözesanbudget gefördert.
In Pfarren im Tiroler Teil der Erzdiözese wurden ebenfalls zahlreiche Projekte unterstützt. So erhielten die Sanierungen von Kirchen unter anderem in Brandberg, Breitenbach, Ebbs, Kitzbühel, St. Johann/T., Thierbach und Wörgl Geld aus dem Kirchenbeitrag.
Ebenso wurden Baumaßnahmen an vielen Pfarrhöfen, unter anderem in Alpbach, Auffach, Brandberg, Brixlegg, Kirchberg, Kössen, Oberau, Oberndorf/T., Reith/A., Waidring und Westendorf mit namhaften Beträgen aus dem Diözesanbudget gefördert.
Da bei Bauprojekten in den Pfarren vor allem Firmen aus der Region beauftragt werden, sind sie ein wesentlicher Beitrag zur regionalen Wirtschaftsförderung.
