<h2>Rückblick auf die Kontinentalversammlung zum Syn
odalen Prozess</h2>
<p>Im Februar dieses Jahres fand in Prag die europäisc
he Kontinentalversammlung zum Synodalen Prozess der katholischen Kirche stat
t. Sie brachte zwei Erkenntnisse: die Meinungen zu einigen Reformthemen lieg
en weit auseinander, aber das Instrument der synodalen Gespräche ist der ri
chtige Weg. <br /> Bischöfe und Delegierte von 39 Bischofskonferenzen
aus allen Teilen Europas kamen vom 5. bis 12. Februar in Prag zu einem ausg
iebigen Gedankenaustausch über die Zukunft der Kirche zusammen. Es ging in
dieser Phase des weltweiten Synodalen Prozesses vorrangig darum, welche Posi
tionen von den einzelnen Länderdelegationen vertreten werden und welche Erw
artungen es an die Weltsynode gibt. „Ich habe das Treffen als radikale Hor
izonterweiterung erlebt“, erzählt der Theologe Markus Welte, österreichi
sches Delegationsmitglied und Koordinator des Synodalen Prozesses in der Erz

Neben dem guten Austausch darüber, was die regionale Phase in den einzelnen Kirchen zutage gefördert hat, sei beim Zusammentreffen auch ein „heterogenes und widersprüchliches Bild“ an kirchlichen Vorstellungen auf den Tisch gekommen. „Das hat die Teilnehmenden überrascht und zum Teil auch ratlos gemacht. Es gab Momente, in denen man einfach sprachlos war und nicht wusste, wie man mit den offen benannten Differenzen umgehen soll“, beschreibt Welte die inhaltlichen Spannungen.
Generell sei es in dieser kontinentalen Phase – auch im Abschlussdokument – gelungen, eigentlich unvereinbare Positionen nebeneinander stehen zu lassen. Dadurch habe es trotz „unterschiedlicher Horizonte, Welten und Denkformen“ am Ende des Zusammentreffens keine Gewinner oder Verlierer gegeben. Man war sich einig, den Weg der Synodalität „weiter zu leben und zu fördern“.

Ausblick: Informationen zum Fortgang des synodalen Prozesses
Im Oktober 2023 versammeln sich die Mitglieder der Bischofssynode zur XVI. Ordentlichen Vollversammlung in Rom. Nach dem Hören auf das Volk Gottes und den Beratungen auf den kontinentalen Versammlungen, dient die Versammlung in Rom der Unterscheidung.
Erstmals sind auch Nicht-Bischöfe ordentliche, d.h. stimmberechtigte Mitglieder der Synode. Seitens der europäischen Bischofskonferenz werden dem Papst 20 Männer und Frauen aus Europa vorgeschlagen, aus denen 10 Personen ausgewählt werden, um an den Beratungen in Rom teilzunehmen. Für Österreich wurden Regina Polak, Petra Steinmair-Pösel und Markus Welte, die bereits an der kontinentalen Versammlung in Prag teilgenommen haben, für die Nominierung empfohlen. Fest steht bereits, dass Erzbischof Franz Lackner an der Generalversammlung der Bischofssynode teilnehmen wird.
Als Grundlage für die Beratungen in Rom wurde in den vergangenen Wochen ein Arbeitsdokument (Instumentum Laboris) erarbeitet und vom Ordentlichen Rat der Bischofssynode, dem u.a. Kardinal Schönborn angehört, genehmigt. Es wird Anfang Juni vom Generalsekretariat der Bischofssynode veröffentlicht.
